Rod Hamilton, CFP
Financial Planner
Rod Hamilton started in financial services in 1972, after being introduced to the industry by his father John, who was himself a second-generation investment advisor.
Rod spent 20 years building up an independent practice in Montréal, where he was the first introducing broker in the province and eventually owned a seat on the Montréal Stock Exchange. He then moved to Waterloo to work with John. With post-secondary education in accounting, it was during this period that Rod gained a new appreciation for the importance of strong, well-suited tax strategy. On one particular occasion, he came across a mismanaged tax shelter that was costing investors millions of dollars and, leading a team of accountants and lawyers, he worked with the CRA to mitigate the damage significantly.
Rod’s experience in his field and his expertise in tax and accounting enable him to plan and manage clients’ wealth and to help minimize the stress that goes along with it.
At Hamilton Insurance & Financial Management, Rod works to deliver comprehensive financial guidance, serving families, Professionals, Entrepreneurs, and Multi-Generational businesses.
In 2021 Rod and his spouse Cheryl moved to Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, where Cheryl is originally from. Rod continues to serve his clients in Ontario and operates with his assistant from York, ON. He travels in between locations. In addition, he has several clients in Nova Scotia.
Rod is an active skier in the Winter and he & Cheryl enjoy exploring their favorite local beaches in the summer.
Amy Beddoe
Amy joined Hamilton Insurance & Financial Management in October 2014. Amy has 17 years of Customer Service & Office Administration experience. Amy has a genuine interest in serving and meeting the clients’ needs and is focused on providing excellent customer service and advisor support. Amy’s attention to detail and caring manner makes her the perfect addition to the team.
